Optical bonding is a process for bonding display components together.
For example, bonding LCD, touch panel and cover lens, where the adhesive (optical bonding material) completely fills the gap between the corresponding components.
Why optical bonding?
Improved optical performance due to reduced reflection
Increased contrast and better readability in bright environments without backlight enhancement
Better mechanical stability
Increases resistance to vibration and shock
Automotive: has a positive effect on Head Impact Test (HIT)
Dust/humidity
Prevents dust penetration and condensation due to humidity
More design freedom
Flatter displays, narrow bezel, curved displays
