The principle and characteristics of semi reflective and semi transparent LCD screens.
A semi reflective LCD screen, as the name suggests, is a combination of a transmissive screen and a reflective screen. Reflective screens do not have backlighting and rely on a reflective mirror on the back to provide light through outdoor sunlight or indoor lighting reflections, displaying images. A transmissive screen emits light through its own backlight source to illuminate the displayed image. The semi reflective and semi transparent LCD screen combines the advantages of both, which can display in outdoor sunlight like a reflective screen and in dark environments like a transmissive screen.
In bright lighting conditions, such as outdoor sunny environments, semi reflective and semi transparent screens mainly adopt the effect of reflective screens, and the illumination sensor inside the screen controls the backlight. The backlight brightness can automatically adapt to the outdoor environment brightness by setting the backlight brightness to a very low state. The screen mainly relies on the reflection of the reflective film to display images, which means that the stronger the outdoor sunlight, the stronger the backlight reflected by the screen, so as to achieve clear display and reading in outdoor sunlight, no matter how strong the outdoor lighting is. Due to the fact that it does not require a backlight source in bright environments, semi reflective and semi transparent screens can help save device power outdoors while also providing excellent display performance. In dimly lit indoor environments, the screen's illumination sensor begins to adaptively control the backlight, increasing the brightness of the backlight source and adjusting it to a relatively high state. At this time, the screen mainly relies on its own backlight to emit light to display the image, so that it can be seen clearly in relatively dark environments.
So why do semi reflective and semi transparent LCD screens have two display modes at the same time? The principle is that the semi reflective and semi transparent screen uses a semi reflective film. A semi reflective film is a special type of thin film that can reflect light on its front side and transmit light on its back side. Applied to semi reflective and semi transparent screens, when in outdoor sunlight, the front reflection light is used for display, while in dim environments, a backlight source is used to penetrate the back and light up the screen. At the same time, the screen adopts an illumination sensor to control the brightness of the backlight source through changes in the ambient light source, thereby achieving free switching of display modes in different ambient brightness environments and achieving the best display effect.
According to the characteristics of semi reflective and semi transparent screens, semi reflective and semi transparent LCD screens have a wide range of applications in car displays, ship instruments, outdoor instruments, handheld devices, portable devices, smart wearables, and other fields. Hangzhou Xuhong Technology has launched a series of semi reflective and semi transparent LCD display solutions in various sizes for these applications.
